About Chad Jemmett
About me
I'm Chad Jemmett. A web developer living in Arkansas. I currently work as a web developer for Springdale Public Schools. The largest district in Arkansas.
My background is in communication. I used to work in broadcasting. I produced news shows while living in Idaho. While I was there I did a bit of "Web Producing" Which is a fancy way to say I copied/pasted content into the news station's CMS. I liked doing that so I started to teach myself some programming. I started with Ruby which I really enjoyed. I taught myself for a while and broascasting was getting old so I tried something else.
I started looking for a web developer job. It was a rough ride with my level of experience. So I joined a bootcamp to round out my skill. I spent nine months at Lambda School(now called BloomTech). That leveled up my skills and I was able to land a job at a media company in Northwest Arkansas. I worked there for three years. At WEHCO Media I worked on a complex Django app. I built features that improved the customer onboarding process and billing process. It was a great job, I worked with some greate people.
From there I got a job at a software agency. There I worked on microservices that provided geodata to the company's internal applications. I used Python, Flask and PostgreSQL.
My time there was short. Many of the staff were let go after the company lost some clients. So I looked for work again.
That brings me to my work at Springdale School District. Here I use Python to automate testing and web scraping processes. I use Javascript on the frontend to improve the user experience and the look of the district's websites.
