About Chad Jemmett
Greetings! I am an EdTech Data Engineer currently optimizing operations for the Rogers School District in Arkansas. I specialize in bridging the gap between complex data systems and the educators who rely on them, ensuring that a district of 15,000 students and its faculty stay connected through seamless, automated rosters and data collection.
Core Expertise
- Python & Automation: I build scalable applications and custom automation. At WEHCO Media, I developed features for a Django application managing transactions for 350,000 customers. Currently, I use Python and Pandas daily to process student testing data for import into production environments.
- SQL & Data Architecture: I manage MySQL servers housing over a decade of historical student data. I am experienced in writing complex queries—spanning up to 15 tables—utilizing CTEs and Window clauses to prepare data for third-party educational tools.
- Infrastructure & Scripting: I maintain a remote Windows environment using PowerShell to automate 25+ daily data transfers. I am equally comfortable in Linux environments, managing remote servers via SSH, SFTP, and GREP to keep mission-critical software running smoothly.
Bridging Tech & Education
My background isn't just in the code; it’s in the communication. With a Bachelor’s in Communication and years in broadcasting, I excel at translating dense technical requirements into concise, conversational documentation for non-technical administrators and teachers.
I have spent years on the ground in Arkansas’s largest school districts, walking parents and teachers through communication setups and training administrators on CMS management. I believe that technology should remove burdens, not create them.
The Intangibles
- Empathy: Having navigated a liver transplant, I bring a unique perspective to user support; I know exactly what it feels like to need clear, patient help with difficult tasks.
- Curiosity: I am driven by the "What if?"—whether that is finding the fastest SQL query to map the physical locations of 15,000 students or teaching myself new stacks like Ruby and Digital Ocean to solve a specific problem.
- Lifelong Learning: From completing an intensive bootcamp at BloomTech to maintaining open-source libraries for the gaming community, I am constantly evolving my technical toolkit to stay ahead of the curve.
